What is the difference between NetSuite and Salesforce? Salesforce vs Oracle NetSuite CRM is a common question that many businesses ask as they are researching the right software for their operations. The answer actually isn’t always that straightforward. When we look at NetSuite vs Salesforce, it’s important to understand that they, at their core, don’t offer the same functionalities or fill the same needs.

NetSuite is an Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP) platform, while Salesforce is a Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM).

While both automate and customize many daily processes, including nurturing leads and maintaining purchase orders, they each bring different strengths that could reply to the varying needs of organizations.

So, it’s not a very clear-cut answer to which one is best for an organization but, in some cases, it can lead to integrating both.

For this reason, a Salesforce to NetSuite software integration via Boomi is commonly used by many businesses. In most cases, this is done with the end goal of getting the best of both a CRM and ERP platform.

Oracle NetSuite CRM

At its core, Oracle NetSuite is not just a CRM, it’s primarily an ERP platform - it includes a CRM system that many organizations’ sales teams take advantage of as well. Along with the basic ERP functions that include: accounting and financial management, data reporting, visibility and analysis, the CRM element lets teams follow their customers’ journey using landing pages, campaigns and other marketing tactics.

This path encourages sales and marketing to work together to better target and increase their potential leads and sales.

While this typically covers most of a business’ CRM needs, many also find that a NetSuite to HubSpot software integration adds the missing elements they need.

HubSpot is a well-known CRM system on its own. Learn more about the NetSuite CRM vs. HubSpot and how each of these can help with your business’ marketing and sales efforts.

What is Salesforce CRM?

Also a cloud-based software, Salesforce CRM lets organizations collaborate better, both within their teams and with their customers, from anywhere in the world. It helps a business view important client and product data so they can successfully fill orders on time. This not only increases efficiency but also, their overall sales.

This collaboration among sales and back-office teams makes them more efficient, thus enhancing the client experience and satisfaction.

NetSuite CRM vs Salesforce

As we look at NetSuite CRM vs Salesforce, we’ll base our comparison on some key functions and practices found across most organizations.

Managing and Qualifying Leads, Maintaining Client Accounts

NetSuite’s CRM offers several ways to manage leads and qualify them accordingly and promptly. Thanks to its different forms, your teams can capture these leads accordingly and view them in the format suited to their functions. These customizable features are important for different employees who are maintaining client data and accounts for future use, such as: tracking customer habits so you can plan inventory and purchasing activities. It also gives marketing teams insight into how leads are coming in and which content they’re engaging most with.

Similarly, Salesforce allows for team collaboration so client and account data can be shared. By tagging a colleague on relevant data in the CRM, they can view past conversations and client history. As is the case with NetSuite, this data provides actionable insights into the leads’ journey to becoming a prospect.

Quotes to Orders, Purchasing and Invoices

NetSuite CRM includes helpful features namely, quote-to-order abilities as well as fulfillment, so you can keep track of orders and invoices. By simplifying and streamlining the purchasing and sales process, NetSuite lets you see customers’ buying habits and even offers recommendations on future inventory and order management for your business.

Along with this interesting forecasting feature, this CRM aspect of NetSuite includes automated tax calculators and pricing rules for you to consider for your offerings. The collaborative aspect lets you include other relevant teams, such as finance or sales, in pricing decisions.

While Salesforce can offer a full quote detailed with customer details and information, it doesn’t have a built-in feature for “configuration, price, quote” (CPQ), which is usually part of a wholesome CRM or, in NetSuite’s case, full ERP platform. Teams using Salesforce will need an add-on in order to fill the quote-to-cash capability.

Sales and Marketing Processes with a CRM

The sales and marketing processes are probably the most important when it comes to a CRM’s capabilities and functions. Some might even say the whole point of a CRM is to support the sales and marketing teams’ tasks and collaboration. In order for marketing teams to build effective campaigns that reach their target customers, they need to know said customers’ needs.

NetSuite lets users enter and track customer data, which is useful for marketing to build segmented lists. Using these lists, they can kick off tailored marketing campaigns that enable sales teams to reach out to leads as well. It also lets businesses create templates and landing pages so they can track any leads coming in - and immediately share this information with their colleagues in sales.

For any marketing automation and related activities, Salesforce requires an add-on feature that offers graphics and a catalog of templates that can be used for campaigns. Similar to NetSuite, it offers a history of leads and what led them to prospect status, which remains useful to sales teams.

For a better collaboration with marketing and sales, organizations might benefit from a Salesforce to HubSpot integration.

NetSuite: A Cloud-Based ERP Platform

As a leader in enterprise resource planning systems, NetSuite’s cloud-based platform can be implemented across any industry. More importantly, as an ERP with customizable apps that can be used on your mobile or browser, you can access your data from anywhere.

Why is this important? If your teams are scattered across different regions, they can still access and share live data. They can even carry out usual tasks, like tracking or managing leads, generating quotes and orders, forecasting sales and inventory, and more - on the go!

So, yes NetSuite offers full ERP capabilities, which include a CRM functionality. The additional benefit that can’t be ignored here, is that NetSuite gives your organization full ERP support.

By investing in this cloud-based ERP platform you can use add-ons for additional support tasks, while still benefiting from possible pricing discounts.
