Office Designs provides ergonomic seating, modern office furniture, and office layout and design for small and medium-sized businesses. Founded in 1996, Office Designs was the first company to promote the Herman Miller Aeron chair and numerous other leading-edge ergonomic chairs online. The company’s merchandise mix quickly grew and evolved beyond ergonomic chairs to encompass mid-century classics, desks, storage and décor. Today, the company remains one of the leading distributors of pieces by Humanscale, Steelcase, BlueDot, and many other designers.
As Office Designs grew organically to meet demand for its more diversified offering, it began to rely on dispersed operational systems, each with its own limitations and constraints. CoreSense was being used as an ERP and order fulfillment tool, with a minimal CRM and no financial module. Peachtree was used for accounting, eBridge for transactions, Fishbowl for warehouse management, and Salesforce for quote and lead management.
“When every process involves manual interaction, it becomes a complicated scenario,” explains Leo Radovsky, Director of Information Technology at Office Designs. “Because multiple sources of information needed to be pieced together from different systems, we spent more time building the reports than analyzing them. We had limited visibility over inventory, COGS, and sales trends. We knew that proper integration was required to grow our e-commerce and to efficiently close our fiscal periods. We needed drill-down metrics, available in a single place in order to make the best strategic decisions.”
Office Designs turned its sights to NetSuite OneWorld, with its near infinite capabilities for global business intelligence, and chose Gurus as its implementation partner because of their proven reputation and transparent, collaborative approach. Almost immediately after deployment, NetSuite OneWorld made it possible to gain better visibility into profit margin by product, channel, and salesperson, while Inventory Management helped the company anchor its purchasing and order fulfillment processes. The positive effects are felt all the way down the line; since order processing and fulfillment are now integrated with web store and external channels, end users are at the receiving end of many of the improvements. Office Designs was also able to integrate NetSuite with its Magento-based web stores and in multiple marketplaces.

Since implementation, we have quadrupled the number of orders we can process through Amazon, and we have significantly cut the amount of manual order processing from multiple channels.
