A carefully conducted Business Process Review uncovers a big chunk of your requirements and allows the implementation team to deliver a system that “does what it’s supposed to do.” However, it might still fail to provide the added value everyone was expecting. Other aspects need to be considered:

  • What are the ultimate goal of this initiative, including the hidden ones?

  • What about the constraints, the risks, the impact of failure? What areas must be protected at all costs?

  • What legacy systems will or will not be replaced by the new system? What are the data sources and how does the information flow across the organization?

  • What is the roll-out plan?

  • What about change management and the readiness for change? What skills do people have and what is your plan to encourage better adoption?
