Hi everybody, my name is Martin McNicoll, CEO of GURUS Solutions, and today I'll answer the question: “What can Cloud ERP do for laboratories?”

Commercial labs are equipped with scientific equipment and conduct experiments to analyze samples and provide reports to their clients. The analyzed samples from the environment, animals, humans, and our DNA, in a whole new field called Genomics.

The core of the lab is the laboratory information management systems or limbs. It is the system where all the equipment connects to and produces reports based on the field of expertise of the lab.

As laboratories grow they add a multitude of functionality to their labs, from order management to invoicing, creating this rogue application that is out of control and requires an army of programmers to keep up with. Luckily, there's a way out of the spiraling cost of keeping a custom application up.

Today, leading laboratories use the Cloud to run the core business functions of their business, like accounting, CRM, order management, and customer portal, and connect their cloud ERP system to the limbs to pass on key information back and forth.

These companies can then dedicate their internal resources to focusing on their core business,  the analysis of the sample, while leaving the common functions to their cloud ERP system.
